Gordon Wins Again
Jeff Gordon was in the right spot (1st) at the right time when the Pocono 500 (now known as the Parade Lap 500), was red-flagged because of rain. The race was finally called because the rain kept coming and there’s no way they could complete the race before darkness fell. This is Gordon’s 4th win of the season, and by his own admission, things are falling in his favor, but winning a Cup championship requires a huge amount of luck.
And as I predicted a few days ago, Ryan Newman is in fact finding his stride this year, and I look for him to continue this and be a factor come Chase time. And Kasey Kahne’s freefall contines this year, finishing 22nd and was never a factor. You have to wonder what’s going on behind the scenes at Evernham Motorsports? I’ve always felt Kahne was overrated and even though he won multiple races last year, I also felt he had a streak of extremely good luck as well.
And someone needs to give Denny Hamlin a crying towel. Over time, his “poor me” attitude will become a liability, and will affect his ability to drive a race car. All he has to do is look at what happened to Mike Skinner and he can see the road he’s traveling down.
