It Will Be A NASCAR Crap-Shoot In Las Vegas
Las Vegas is known for gambling. The newly renovated Las Vegas track with much higher banking created practice speeds that NASCAR officials couldn’t take. The pole speed last year was in the vicinity of 172 mph. The highest practice speed this week was in the vicinity of 188 - a HUGE increase. So - practice is nearly over but NASCAR decided on new tires to slow the cars in the name of safety. Yeah - NASCAR is all about safety - they proved that in Daytona, didn’t they?
The drivers get to drive on what will be essentially a whole new set-up with one practice session before qualifying. Good thing this isn’t an impound race and there will be 2 practice sessions on Saturday. In 2 years, NASCAR will have had 50 years to get this stuff right! Have they?
