Junior to Open New Racing Venue
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is reported to be in the midst of a project to open a new racing venue in Alabama. Alabama Motorsports Park will feature an oval track, a road course, and a kart track, and is scheduled to be fully operational by 2010. This is very old news, that’s not meant as a slam, just a ref to it not being anything new under the sun.
What will be interesting is if Dale Jr. decides to push for a NASCAR date in the future. It will be very interesting what NASCAR’s response will be.
The wrath of Dale’s fans will come down hard when the inevitable happens and he’s turned down.

Marc, I know this is actually old news, but it’s something that I don’t ever recall talking about on this site and it’s a topic I haven’t seen much about recently. When I saw Bruce’s post on the subject, I figured it’d be a good time to bring it back up here as well.
As for the track, I don’t forsee anything happening with the track and NASCAR for quite sometime, if ever.
