NASCAR at Bristol: Jeff Gordon Is On The Pole
Is Jeff Gordon back? Even he was surprised at his qualifying. Only .14 seconds behind is Kasey Kahne and .13 seconds behind him is Elliott Sadler. The field is close, but Jeff is starting in front and won his Bud Pole Award.
The Car of tomorrow is now the car of today. No one seemed to have much of a problem and even Dale Jarrett qualified on time - something he hasn’t done yet this year. Does this bode well for the Toyotas? Michael Waltrip didn’t make it - again - but there are 5 Toyotas in and only 2 didn’t make it. Of course, there are people who are going home but that happens at every race so nothing is different about that either.
Will Bristol be the same with Mark Martin? He’ll be missed but the show will go on. Is it difficult for him to back away since he is the current points leader? Not according to him. He has earned whatever he does and he is a man of principle. He made an agreement before the season started and he’s sticking to it.
