Do You NASCAR? - NASCAR News

the Big Ten

by Tim Zaegel on November 30th, 2007

Top ten things NASCAR needs to address to enhance their product:

10. Either add more road courses to the schedule (inparticularly one needs to be added to the Chase), or do away with them altogether.

9.  Create a better schedule flow for the teams. It makes no sense to go from Daytona straight to California, nor does it make sense to go from Michigan to Infineon (California) to New Hampshire.

8.  Tier the points system so that there are distinct differences in points awarded for a top five as opposed to a top ten, a distinct difference in points for a top ten as opposed to top fifteen, etc.

7.  Due away with fines levied for cursing over the team radios altogether. It’s just completely assenine in the sense that the operative word there is “TEAM” radio.

6.  More consistency in rain delays vs. ending the race early due to inclimate weather. I think you all know what I’m talking about, and if you don’t, please refer to Kansas earlier this year.

5.  More consistency in late race caution flags. This has been a widely discussed issue throughout this season particularly. I don’t think I need to explain.

4.  Elimination of “fuel mileage” races. I have no idea where to even start in addressing this issue, but PLEASE figure out how to get rid of them!

3.  Implementation of a better system for provisionals throughout the course of the season.

2.  Legitimize their Busch / Nationwide Series by prohibiting Cup regulars from participating in the series every week.

1.  Consistency in legislation handed down from the sanctioning body.
