Wednesday Mid-Week Wrap
11/30 – Friday evening’s awards ceremony witnessed a record payout of $24,068,732 to the top 10 drivers in the points standings, which is the largest top ten payout in the series’ history. Of this, Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson was awarded $7,317,499 on top of the $7,996,421 he’d already earned throughout the course of the season (total of over $15m). All of the top ten drivers each received over $1 million payouts. Read more.
11/30 – The Tony Stewart Foundation is listing their auction items for their “Prelude to the Dream”, with the final auction items to be revealed on December 11. Bidding will conclude on December 21. Read more.

12/2 – It’s been reported by racingone.com that while on vacation in Australia this past weekend, Dale Earnhardt Jr. stopped by as a spectator for the V8 Supercars Grand Finale at the Phillip Island Circuit. Read more.
12/2 – The Spears Racing Team has announced that their no. 75 team will not return to the truck series in 2008. Read more.
12/4 – Jimmie Johnson has been nominated for the United States Sports Academy’s Athlete of the Year Award for 2007. Read more.
12/4 – Craftsman has announced that they will be pulling out as the primary sponsor of NASCAR’s truck series. 2008 will mark Craftsman’s fourteenth and final season as the series sponsor, though they claim that they do not plan to exit from NASCAR completely. The search is underway for a new sponsor. Read more.
12/4 – NASCAR has announced that Sprint Cup testing will begin at Daytona International Speedway on Monday, January 7th. Read more.
